Growth in your group

“You will meet two kinds of people in life:
ones who build you up and ones who tear you down.
But in the end, you will thank them both”

There are OVERALL two kinds of people in the world....

Those who make your life easier and those who make it difficult for you.
The ones who make you perform better and the ones who make you perform worse.
The ones who push themselves and the ones who take all the credit.
Those who make you feel good and those who make you feel bad.
Those who simplify and those who complicate.
Those who listen sincerely and those who talk through others.
Those who give and those who take.
Those who are there for you and those who are there for themselves.

Which of the two are you?

This distinction can also be observed in the field of growth. There are two groups of people who both have their own approach to growth. The only similarity between these two types of groups is that they both want to move away from their current position. Their approach how they want to grow is totally different.

One group thinks to grow by demeaning and tearing down others in order to rise above others people. Aggression, negativity, gossip and backbiting are prominent characteristics of them. These people do not grow themselves but think by demeaning others that they themselves are thereby rising above the ranks. As a result, the team as a whole does not develop. People in the first group are insecure and and seek absolute confirmation. In this first group, team members are actually hindered in favor of the one insecure but verbally strong individual. They judge others because they do not understand the other person. They have no genuine interest in others.

The other group of people actually wants to grow by learning from others. They gather better people around them and draw on them and only want to develop themselves. They do not make their growth dependent on others.  Within this second group, the tools to encourage and improve the growth climate and mindset in the group are ample. It is not only the one individual who grows but it is the whole team which develops in a positive direction.

So again, which of the two are you?
